On Tuesday, Sept. 17 the Constitution Day lecture will be delivered by Louis Michael Seidman, the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgetown Law School. The lecture will take place at noon in the moot courtroom of Mercer Law School.

Professor Seidman's provocative new book, "On Constitutional Disobedience," has received a great deal of attention in the press as well as among members of the legal profession. Professor Seidman is a 1971 graduate of Harvard Law School and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. During his many years teaching at Georgetown, Professor Seidman has co-authored a leading constitutional law casebook and written and spoken on a wide array of constitutional law topics.

Tue, Oct 1 - Annual Brainerd Currie Lecture

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Third Annual Brainerd Currie Lecture -- named after the legendary conflict of laws scholar who graduated from Mercer Law School and began his teaching career here -- will be delivered by Professor Kermit Roosevelt of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. The lecture will take place at noon in the moot courtroom of the Law School

Professor Roosevelt is co-author of the latest edition of a conflict of laws casebook that began years ago as a casebook by Brainerd Currie's son David, a longtime professor at the University of Chicago. Professor Roosevelt is a 1997 graduate of Yale Law School and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter. He is the author of "Conflict of Laws: Concepts and Insights" (Foundation Press 2010) and various articles in the field.

As in the past, the Currie Lecture will provide the basis for an article by the speaker in the Mercer Law Review.
