A recently saved project can be opened by selecting it from the File menu.

Many types of projects can be saved. When you save a project, you are not actually saving copies of all the files in the project. You are simply saving a list of the files and their locations on your computer. This makes it easy to recreate a project in the future.

By default, projects are saved in your My Documents folder with a .sonic file name extension.

Tips   Step-by-step

  • When you open a saved project, you will be notified if any of the files in the project are missing. This can happen if a file is moved or deleted after a project is saved. To restore a missing file, add the file again from its new location.
  • By default, a reminder notice will appear when you close the application asking if you would like to save any unfinished projects. This reminder can be turned off by changing the settings on the General option panel.

To save a project, do one of the following:
  • Choose File > Save. (If Save is inactive, the project is a type that cannot be saved.)
  • Click on the Save button in the lower left corner of the project window.
To open a saved project, do one of the following:
  • Choose File > Open. Use the window to navigate to the file. Select the file and click on the Open button.
  • From the File menu, select a project from the list of recently saved projects.
  • Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the saved project file. Double-click on the file name, and the project will open.
