Haynes Maier
Class of 2007
Rome, Georgia Editor-in-Chief, Mercer Law Review
"When I started law school, a federal judge told me that one of the most important skills to learn in law school is the ability to write clearly and effectively. In order to develop this skill as much as possible, I focused on my legal writing classes beginning in my first year of law school. Because of Mercer's smaller size, I had access to faculty members who are some of the best in the legal writing field. Being on Mercer Law Review during my second year gave me opportunities to further refine my legal writing skills. As Editor in Chief of the Mercer Law Review, I am now learning other important skills that will help me transition into practice in a law firm, including leadership skills and the ability to balance work responsibilities with life outside of school and work. Mercer has given me these opportunities to learn and grow that I am confident I would not have had elsewhere."
