The Furman Smith Law Library, named to honor a distinguished alumnus, is the center for legal research information in the Law School and will serve as the centerpiece of much of your academic work during your time at the Mercer School of Law.

A premier law library, it is used by lawyers and judges from across the state and recognized for its superior resources and service. The lawlibrary occupies over 30,000 square feet in a central location on the second and third floors of the Walter F. George School of Law building. Large windows in the library provide students with views of historic Macon from the law building's location on top of Coleman Hill.

Cutting-Edge Technology
The computer lab and law library are a fully integrated, functional unit, so Mercer law students enjoy 24-hour access to a legal information technology center equipped with more than thirty networked computers with standard applications and high-speed internet access. There is complete wireless coverage throughout the law school, including the law library and labs, providing access to the network and an array of electronic and online research resources.

A Vast Collection of Holdings

The library provides more than 325,000 volumes and over 3,000 serials dealing with United States and international law, as well as an extensive collection of materials on bankruptcy and commercial law, funded by the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute. The library is a selective government depository as well.

Personalized Service

You will have access to meeting rooms, private study carrels, copy and document delivery services, interlibrary loan, reference, and reserve services, and, most importantly, a staff of dedicated library professionals.
