Mercer Law Review Symposium 2012

The 2012 Mercer Law Review Symposium on Friday, Oct. 5 will focus on “Defining and Enforcing the Federal Prosecutor's Duty to Disclose Exculpatory Evidence” as part of the 13th Annual Georgia Symposium On Ethics And Professionalism. The symposium will feature internationally renowned scholars and will take place in the moot courtroom of Mercer Law School from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Mercer Law Welcomes Class of 2015 and Inaugural LLM Class

One hundred thirty students representing 55 undergraduate institutions, 36 undergraduate majors and an array of professional backgrounds have joined Mercer Law School as the Class of 2015. First year students spent three days in orientation and one full week in an Intro to the Study of Law class to help prepare for their next three years in Law School.

26 Mercer Law Students Receive Stipends for Summer Internships

Twenty-six students at Mercer University School of Law will receive stipends for working in governmental or nonprofit law offices this summer. The stipends, which total $102,000, are funded by a combination of endowment income, expendable gifts made for this purpose, and a grant from the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. The law school’s Public Interest Committee selected the recipients out of dozens of applicants.

Danielle M. Early Selected as Lt. Governor of Georgia, ABA Law School Division

Second-year student Danielle Early has been appointed Lt. Governor in Georgia for the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division, Fifth Circuit. Early was appointed to the 2012-13 term based on her qualifications, leadership skills, and desire to serve the law students of within the circuit. The Fifth Circuit includes 27 law schools in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, and Tennessee.

Mercer Students Raise Most Donations Among Law Schools in First Georgia Lawyers’ Food Drive

Mercer Law School was the leader in a recent competition to help feed the hungry in Georgia. In a friendly competition against all other law schools in the state of Georgia, Mercer Law School gathered more food than any other school. In all, the School gathered 4,421 pounds of food, or nine pounds per student, to help support the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. The effort brought home the Attorney General’s Cup for the Law School Division. Part of a larger statewide food drive organized by the State Attorney General's Office and the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, the competition raised a total of 612,000 pounds of food for the state’s seven regional food banks.
